APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Home Depot Employees spent their day off making a difference Thursday.
They volunteered their time and helped improve the lives of displaced veterans
The team of 15 revamped and repaired seven units within the COTS facility.
COTS is a place that addresses homelessness and supports veterans in finding stable housing.
Michael Green, deputy director of COTS, tells FOX 11 its programs like these that help them be able to take care of the community.
“COTS is 100% privately funded. The community gives us everything we have, everything. We don’t employ maintenance staff. The guys who live here take care of that but there are things we need expertise with.”
This event comes after the recent closure of a program for homeless veterans at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King in Waupaca County.
25 veterans were left homeless.
