APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A 28-year-old man from Neenah has been convicted and sentenced in a child sex sting case.
Fox Valley Metro police arrested Michael Vaughn in June. Police say he planned to meet what he thought was a 15-year-old girl for sex at an apartment complex in Kimberly.
The “girl” was actually an undercover officer.
Vaughn was convicted of attempted second-degree sexual assault of a child and soliciting intimate representations from a minor.
A charge of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime was dismissed but considered at sentencing.
Vaughn was sentenced to five years in prison, followed by five years of extended supervision.
