HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Friday night playoff game under the lights isn’t the same in Hortonville.
High school senior Collin Krivoshein died in a crash Monday.
“After everything that happened Monday night, the boys came home wanting to know how they could honor Collin during the playoff game,” Callie Springstroh, co-secretary of the Hortonville football booster club said.
Rally towels and t-shirts are for sale, honoring Krivoshein’s memory and celebrating his life.
Springstroh tells FOX 11 all proceeds will go to his family.
“The saying on the front was Collin’s saying in the program, so that was part of it, and then the military flag is to honor his dad.”
Junior Austin Guyette played baseball with Krivoshein.
“When I was a freshman we did bullpens and I would throw to him. I think his work ethic was better than anything I could ever imagine from a high schooler.”
He says school isn’t the same without his teammate.
“It’s quiet… you never want to see something happen at your own school like this.”
Guyette tells FOX 11 honoring him at the game is a fitting tribute.
“You can’t fix what happened, but you can just do whatever you can and try to make people happy.”
Krivoshein’s teammates have left their mark with each signature on a football left behind at his memorial, but he has also left his mark on them.
“Depending on how well you knew him or how you knew him, everybody was impacted by it because we’re a small town. But we create forces and stick together,” Springstroh said.
And they are sticking together… by “Remembering our teammate from the VILLE.”
Hortonville’s booster club sold more than 700 shirts before last night’s game even started. Sales are still coming in. Hortonville’s soccer and dance teams are also raising money.
Krivoshein’s funeral is this afternoon. It’s being held at Valley Funeral Home in Greenville.
