GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A new space for local artists to collaborate and create is now open in downtown Green Bay’s Broadway district.
S.A.G.E. is located inside of The Premier which is already known as an Artistic Incubator for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and artists of all kinds.
“S.A.G.E. stands for Share, Accept, Grown, and Encourage, and we started two years ago as a small business support group and we morphed into a group that supports and encourages arts in the Green Bay area,” said board member Betsy Wijas.
Wijas tells FOX 11 the development of the space is just getting started and they’re hoping to provide more services down the line.
“We’re hoping to offer classes, and different events in this space and the goal is to always provide them for free.”
Since S.A.G.E. is a non-profit organization, members said they’ll keep raising money to make sure this space stays around for years to come.
“We like to think the Premier is where it all starts. We have all the artistic disciples here, dance, music, theatre, digital art, visual art, so this really is a chance for Green Bay to collaborate,” said Green Bay Theatre Company President Denis Gullickson.
“We’ve realized we’ve created a gateway to the arts and performance community in town so this is never going to stop and people will continue to come to this space.”
S.A.G.E. hosts a public meeting on the first Monday of each month at 6 p.m. inside The Premier.
