DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – The West De Pere and Shawano school districts are investigating possible damage apparently caused by football players at a playoff game last week.
West De Pere defeated Shawano, 56-20, in the first round of the WIAA Division 3 playoffs.
Representatives of the schools have not confirmed the details of the damage, apparently happening in a locker room at West De Pere High School.
“It has been brought to our attention that there may have been behavior by our players that is not conducive to Shawano School District last Friday night at the football game. This is an internal matter and we are currently investigating the incident and will work with West De Pere to come to a resolution,” Randi Anderson, superintendent of Shawano schools, said in an email.
“This is a situation we are handling internally and in conjunction with Shawano,” said Scott Eggart, activities director for West De Pere.
“We were not aware of the incident, but we understand our member schools are working together to understand what occurred and to take measures to address the situation, which is typical when situations such as these occur,” said Todd Clark, director of communications for the WIAA.
