GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Brown County Emergency Management is watching the upcoming winter forecasts carefully, as a lot of snow and fast melting could result in quite a mess.
Lauri Maki, Brown County Emergency Management Director says it may just be too much water if the winter goes as forecast.
“Snowmelt and then possibly more rain on top of the already high water levels are existing.”
Maki says there is nothing that they can do except for hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
“A lot of it is what we can do to build partnership and prepare ourselves and other agencies for potential problems that we might have in the spring.”
Currently, the water is higher than it normally is coming into winter.
“All we can do is hope that every year we can continue to improve our response and try to mitigate any potential issues that we may have.”
Maki says they will continue to use their emergency response plans that are in place if needed including their code red alert system.
