GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police are hoping for all treats and no tricks this week.
With Halloween right around the corner, Green Bay Police Captain Kevin Warych says safety should be on everyone’s mind and that includes people driving in residential neighborhoods.
“Kids running from house to house are not thinking about people driving on the road, they are thinking about getting to the next house to get more candy.”
Warych says the other reminder comes when the kids get home.
“In recent years we have had situations were suspicious items have shown up in candy. “We want all parents to take that extra couple of minutes to look through the candy to make sure it is safe for the kids to eat.”
The best way to stay safe is to keep an eye on kids when they are going door to door and be actively involved.
“We want everyone to look out for everyone. Our goal is and always will be for a safe Haloween.”
Trick or Treating in Green Bay, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, and Bellevue is from 4:00 to 7:00 Thursday evening.
