GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The single-ride fare on Green Bay Metro Transit appears headed for a hike. The first one in 15 years.
Under the city’s proposal fares would increase from $1.50 to $2.
The most recent increase for single-ride fares was in 2005, when it was increased from $1 to $1.50.
Other proposed increases: Adult weekly pass would increase from $3 to $4, the adult weekly pass would increase from $12 to $15, and the adult monthly pass would increase from $35 to $39. For the full list of fare proposals, click here.
Monthly passes account for the bulk of passengers. The last increase for that pass was in 2009, according to Patty Kiewiz, transit director.
The public can offer comment at three meetings:
Tuesday, Nov. 5, 8:15 a.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 12, 4:15 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 26, 5:45 p.m.
All meetings will be conducted at the Green Bay Metro – Commission Room, 901 University Avenue, Green Bay, WI 54302

The Transit Commission is expected to vote on the increases at its December 18th meeting. Fare increases would take effect on January 1st.
