MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – A bill that would provide funding for the city of Green Bay to move coal piles has been approved by a state Senate committee.
State Senator Rob Cowles says the Committee on Transportation, Veterans, and Military Affairs voted to pass that legislation 4-1.
The bill would help with the first step in relocating the C. Reiss coal facility from the west bank of the Fox River while providing $1.2 million for geotechnical work, planning and soil evaluation at the proposed relocation site.
The bill passed the full Assembly earlier this month. It’s not known when the full Senate will take up the bill.
