BONDUEL, WI (WTAQ) – A crash in Shawano County on Highway 117 and Mutzy Lane Monday has led to the closure of the bridge that is going over the highway.
“The vehicle that hit the bridge moved part of the structure off from where it is, so we have to make sure that it is stable enough.”
Shawano County Sheriff Officials say the accident reconstruction is done, but the closure is still in place because the bridge was hit during the accident.
“What’s left is the damage to the bridge and how it is going to be fixed,” Captain Ty Raddant said. “We are working with three different departments to find a solution to it.”
Raddant says it could be days before the bridge is reopened as three different groups are working on it.
“It needs to be safe for everyone to travel on and we need to make sure that it is not going to collapse or anything like that,” he said. “It will be delayed maybe a week, maybe longer.”
A detour to County BE to E and Highway 117 is in place to allow for semi traffic.
Raddant says people should allow 10 to 15 minutes extra to get through.
“The reason it is detoured that far is for semis to get around because some of the town roads will not accommodate semi traffic. Out of town drivers should stick to the detours.”
For those who are familiar with the local roads, there are other ways to get around the detour.
