GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A special flight is combining Wisconsin Sports and Veterans.
The Stars & Stripes Honor Flight announced will send alumni from the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Bucks on the 2019 Flight of Champions to Washington DC today.
“It is the first time that three professional sports teams teamed up to join on an honor flight.” Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach says planes are leaving from Green Bay and Milwaukee.
“The Green Bay flight will have Packer alumni. The Milwaukee flights will have Brewer and Bucks alumni on it.”
The community can come out to Austin Straubel Airport tonight to greet the veterans when they get off the plane.
“Ultimately get that welcome home that some of them did not receive in the past.”
The concourse will open at 5 pm. The flight is expected around 7:30, parking will be free and shuttles will be provided.
