GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Several high profile Green Bay housing projects took another step forward Tuesday night.
First up is a housing project in Green Bay’s Astor Park neighborhood. The Green Bay City Council approved the proposal Tuesday night for 100 apartment units on the Fox River on East Mason Street, south of the bridge.
As part of the development agreement, the city will kick in a $150,000 grant for site preparation work, plus up to $4 million in tax increment financing, which will be paid as the project is completed.
City leaders have said design work for the building still needs approval. Developers hope to be done with construction by 2023.
Also, the council supported a proposal to turn a parking lot into more housing, and a grocery store Tuesday night.
The $24 million project would get built on the 200 block of North Monroe Avenue.
It includes a “Maurer’s Market” grocery store and 80 housing units, including affordable ones. Developers want to have it built by July of 2022.
The Monroe Avenue project also is looking for some financial help from the city.
Additional approvals for both projects are still needed.
