ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Packers are making a difference by empowering our nation’s veterans.
On Saturday, the organization held a flag football tournament with six teams. Each branch of the military was represented along with members from the National Guard.
The event is part of the Packers’ “Salute to Service” effort, which aims at raising support for families of those who sacrificed their lives serving our country.
“Without their sacrifice we aren’t able to do things like have football on Sundays and all the freedoms we have. This is just one small way we can show our appreciation in a fun way,” said Ryan Fencl, Packers outreach specialist.
The teams weren’t just competing to have fun.
The winning team also got a $2,500 donation to their morale fund.
Second place winners received $1,000 while third place winners were given $500.
