GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A record-setting year for rain means there were days when area pools paid the price.
In Green Bay, it was a tale of two summers.
“We had nice days, but they weren’t hot. We had a lot of 70 degree days or 75 degree days, but it never got too hot.”
Anne Moeller, Recreation Supervisor says the numbers were low in the early months, but the weather had everything to do with that.
“We had a pretty rough start to the summer, it was rainier and big storms came through.”
Moeller says they noticed the impact from the rain and storms, but people still took advantage of what Green Bay had to offer.
“We were down less than 10 percent.”
The city was also down one pool with Colburn pool being closed all summer for repairs.
Appleton was impacted a little more.
Attendance was down 26 percent at their pools, but they did set a record for swim lesson participation.
Moeller says like always, they look forward to next year.
“It is going to be 85 and sunny, that is what we always hope for.”
