GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay School District is in the process of updating its dress code.
The district says the policy has not been updated in several years. Students and district staff have been meeting with area principals.
Besides hats, Superintendent Michelle Langenfeld says potential changes include allowing hats, hoods, and coats to be worn in classrooms.
Board members and district staff expressed concern that teachers haven’t been involved with the discussions.
Melissa Thiel Collar, GBAPSD Legal Counsel tells FOX 11….
“My concern is the buy-in. The adults are going to be implementing the policy and I have concerns about what comes next and not affording the people who are closest to the students an opportunity to have a voice in the development of this policy.”
The board agreed to send a survey to staff members.
It hopes to vote on a new dress code at its meeting two weeks from Monday.
