SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) — Infrastructure is a buzz-word you’ll no doubt hear during the upcoming campaign season, and according to the online insurance-rating website QuoteWizard, Wisconsin’s infrastructure – or road system – is the 11th-worst in the nation.
The report, based on Federal Highway Administration data, notes 29% of roads in the Badger State are in poor condition, despite the fact that Wisconsin currently spends 33% of its highway budget on road repairs, slightly above the national average.
Those poor roads also cost Wisconsin drivers when it comes to car maintenance and gas mileage. That added wear and tear adds up to an average of $736 per year.
The best state roads are found in Tennessee; the worst – Rhode Island.
