GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Brown County organization’s renovation is expected to make an even greater difference in the lives of those with disabilities and memory loss.
Curative Connections in Green Bay completed its $8.5 million redesigns, marking the occasion with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday.
The 65,000 square-foot project gives the center more space, doubling adult day services for those dealing with dementia and other neurological impairments.
The renovation also creates space for employment-related services.
President of Curative Connections, Steve McCarthy, tells FOX 11 the project is really a community accomplishment.
“Really we did that because the community’s needs have changed over the years and we were no longer able to adequately meet people’s needs with the space that we had. So really, we had no choice but to talk to the community and engage in a conversation about what space could be and so the project that we came up with resulted in a near doubling in the amount of space that we’re able to offer the community for those services.”
According to Curative Connections, more than 15,000 people in Brown County are diagnosed with dementia. That number is expected to double over the next 15 years.
The number of people aged 65 and older in Brown County will also double over the next 10 years.
