GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay is about to set some September rain records. After this week’s 5 inches of rain that fell, it is now the third most all-time amount of rain to fall in a four day period in September.
Scott Cultice of the National Weather Service in Green Bay says that was not too far from number one.
“The all-time record was 6.05 inches for a time period back in 1914.
Cultice says this week’s rain is the third most all-time in the month of September.
“Right now we are sitting at 7.15 inches and the all-time record was set back in 1965 at 7.8 inches.”
Cultice says one more rain storm should set the all-time record.
According to the National Weather Service, a boundary came into the area earlier in the week and then shifted south. Once it came back, it came back as a warm front and led to two days of rain. Thursday night, the boundry was a cold front and that led to more rain.
Cultice says more rain is forecasted yet this month.
