GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Many people will be in Green Bay this weekend, and Police will have their work cut out for them.
The home Packer season kicks off Sunday, but the activity around Lambeau Field begins Saturday.
Green Bay Police Commander Paul Ebel says traffic will be heavy.
“There is also going to be a lot of heavy foot traffic, so people are going to need to b aware of their surroundings when they are driving around Lambeau or the Resch Center Thursday.
The concerts are Big and Rich at Lambeau and Eric Church at the Resch Center.
“We are going to start closing down Oneida Street around 2:00 p.m. and that will be closed until 8:00 p.m.”
Ebel says Armed Forces will also be shutdown.
Other events this weekend that will pull in people and require a police presence include the Annual Walk For Wild Life at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary on Sunday, the Be The Light Walk at the KI Convention Center Saturday and Festival De Familia.
Ebel says they will also be watching for drunk drivers.
“We also have our OWI Task Force for Brown County out in the Green Bay area.”
He says it is important to remember to have a plan if you plan on having drinks.
Ebel says it is an abnormally busy weekend, but they have the personnel to handle it.
