OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – The Oshkosh Fire Department is enjoying donuts from the Oshkosh Police Department after winning the second Battle of the Badges Blood Drive Wednesday.
Donors could decide which department their blood donation would support and Fire Department came out on top.
The event is held on September 11 as another way that people can honor those who died 18 years ago and support the Red Cross.
Kate Mann with the Oshkosh Police Department says giving blood on 9/11 is a great way to honor those who died on that day, as well as the first responders who risked their lives to help others.
Dave Neuber with Oshkosh Fire says with Wednesday being the anniversary of the terrorist attacks and recent blood need amid Hurricane Dorian during an already emergency shortage, giving back to the American Red Cross is crucial.
Plans are being made for next year’s event.
