BRILLION, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Ariens Company is growing its Brillion plant to keep up with increasing demands.
Company officials feel the steady growth means it’s time to make some changes.
“Zero-turn lawnmowers, that’s what we’re known for,” said John Schiermeister, Ariens plant manager and director of operations.
Whether you have one or want one, they’re made right in your backyard for Northeast Wisconsin residents.
“We’ve seen double-digit growth for the product we make out of this facility,” said Schiermeister
Ariens Company is renovating its Brillion plant to make more of them.
“The technology we’re bringing into the plant increases how fast it can cut weld and move product,” said Schiermeister
The manufacturer isn’t expanding the plant, it’s transforming it with more technology to keep up with demand.
The remodel is already underway. They’ll use a large crane to lift the equipment into the roof of the warehouse. It will include a new space for a paint system and more robotic welders.
“I started out at as a frame hand-welder,” said Cody Oswald a welder at Ariens.
Oswald tells FOX 11 he used to weld with his own two hands. Now he operates robotic hands that do the welding instead.
“We used to spend probably close to 15 minutes welding a frame as now it’s done in six minutes.”
He says it’s more efficient, more functional and easier on his body.
“I’m not having to bend over a frame fixture.”
New shipping vehicles, docks, and lasers are also being added.
“As we bring in new machines, we need people to operate it,” said Schiermeister.
Ariens Company is looking to add 150 workers to operate its growing facility in the next couple of months.
Next Saturday, it will hold open calls for job positions.
