NEENAH, WI (WTAQ) – JG Home Improvements & Energy Service held a golf outing to help the family of fallen Appleton Firefighter Mitch Lundgaard.
The event was held in Neenah.
34 teams made up of about 140 golfers participated in the outing.
Scott Gorges with JG says the group was originally going to raise money for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
“Being in the restoration business, we deal with a lot of structure fires, we deal with a lot of firemen,” Gorges said. “We felt that it would be best if we give the proceeds to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
He said that changed after a tragic day in May.
“Well a month and a half later, unfortunately, we lost Appleton’s finest and that’s the reason we’re putting this on.”
Lundgaard was killed in a shooting on May 15while responding to a medical call at the transit center in downtown Appleton.
