FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says young victims of 58-year-old Terry Phelps helped to convict the Ripon man on child sexual assault and abuse charges.
“Thankfully these children had the courage to share these stories and help keep this dangerous person off the streets.
Phelps was recently sentenced to 30 years in prison and 13 years of extended supervision.
“We just appreciate the difficult decision that people have when they have become victims of sexual assualt and decide to come forward.”
Terry Lee Phelps faced 43 charges, but pleaded guilty to six. Some of the girls victimized were as young as five-years-old. The 58-year-old entered an Alford plea in which he didn’t admit guilt, but acknowledged the state had strong enough evidence to convict him.
Prosecutors believe there were at least six victims.
