APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – National Night Out Is Tuesday night, and there is plenty to do in the city of Appleton, and now there is a new addition for everyone to participate in.
New this year is a party at Houdini Plaza. That party is hosted by the Appleton Police Department.
“We are having our very own block party for the first time this year.”
As one of more than 125 Wisconsin cities welcoming the community for a night out, Appleton Officer Meghan Cash says National Night Out in Appleton includes many neighborhood watches hosting block parties.
“We have over 30 block parties and a lot of groups have decided to combine their parties this year.”
Officer Cash says officers are using their own party as an opportunity for community building and to make connections.
With multiple demonstrations, food, and opportunities to see emergency vehicles up close, Officer Cash says there is something for everyone.
Kids might enjoy asking around for officer trading cards. WTAQ and the Police Department teamed up to create trading cards for officers complete with a photo and facts about each officer. Some officers will have their available Tuesday night.
“We have been really gaming up to get as many cards out there for kids to collect.”
The fun at Houdini Plaza goes from 5:00 to 8:00pm.
Those in attendance can look inside vehicles and go inside. The airport is providing ice cream and fun for the kids includes balloon twisters, face painting, yard games, and a photo booth.
