GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The driver charged in a hit and run crash with a pedestrian didn’t remember the crash when interviewed by police, and a breath test showed the 20-year-old’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Christopher Morris was charged with hit and run causing great bodily harm and injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle for Wednesday’s crash at Dousman and Broadway which injured Ryan Donovan.
A $25,000 cash bond was set during an initial court appearance Friday. He returns to court August 9th for a preliminary hearing.
After the crash, police used a description of the vehicle to track down Morris on the city’s west side. There was fresh damage to the bumper, and open intoxicants inside the truck, according to the criminal complaint.
Morris told police he didn’t remember hitting someone or being involved in a crash.
A preliminary breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of .201, more than double the legal limit of .08 for someone age 21 or older. Results of the subsequent blood test were not cited in the complaint.
The complaint does not say what, where or when Morris had been drinking.
Donovan “had several serious injuries related to his head which included a brain bleed, skull fracture, and trauma to his carotid artery,” the complaint states.
Donovan’s family started a GoFundMe account to help pay for his medical expenses.
