NEWTON, WI (WTAQ) – Over the weekend a motorcyclist was killed in Manitowoc County after a vehicle collided head-on with him.
The incident happened on Friday, just before 10 a.m. on County Highway CR, north of Clover View Road in the town of Newton.
A 38-year-old Manitowoc man was slowing down in the southbound lane of County Highway CR to turn onto Clover View Road, while a vehicle behind him, driven by a 17-year-old Newton girl, swerved in the northbound lane, hitting a northbound motorcycle, according to deputies.
The motorcyclist, 35-year-old Ryan Tadych of Manitowoc, was ejected, taken to the hospital, and then later flown to another hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Officials say that Tadych was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The 17-year-old girl was taken to the hospital for possible injuries, while the 38-year-old man was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation and deputies say this is the eleventh fatal crash in Manitowoc County this year.
