GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Recreation Department is prepared for a busy 48 hours at the public pools.
On a hot day, feeling refreshed seems to be at the top of everyone’s list.
Anne Moeller, Recreation Supervisor in the City of Green Bay says all hands are on deck to help people get their feet and whole bodies in the water.
“We always have a full staff so we are always ready for big crowds.”
Moeller says Joannes Aquatic Center can hold up to 1000 people.
Even though it seems like staying the water all day is a good idea, Moeller says that is a misconception and they will be making some adjustments to their normal schedule including extra full group breaks.
“To get everyone out of the water just to give them a break. You are exercising when you are swimming so we are going to encourage everyone to get out and get some water so they can stay hydrated.”
She says the lifeguards will also need that break time and they will be rotating in and out of the sun.
“We are also going to close our concession stands for a couple of short breaks throughout the day because it can get very hot back there.”
Moeller says sometimes, hot days can be very busy for swimming, and sometimes, people just want to stay indoors, but for those that decided to spend the day in one of Green Bay’s public pool facilities, with some proper planning and safe decisions, it can be a fun way to spend the day.”Stay hydrated, bring your sunscreen and stay safe, but what a great way to come beat the heat.”
