GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Friday is going to be too hot for school.
Summer School classes in the area are canceled Friday due to the expected dangerous heat.
Lisa Johnson, Coordinator of Green Bay Summer School says they can keep things comfortable for students once inside.
“We have a growing number of walkers and so that is really what we took into consideration.”
She says once the students are at school, they are safe and comfortable.
“Our summer school classrooms have air-conditioning.” We also have a lot of programs that are held outside and were are watching that.”
She says for the remainder of summer it is important that parents dress their kids with clothes that will keep them cool and students are encouraged to bring a water bottle. This is the first time in quite a while that Green Bay Summer School has been canceled due to the heat.
Appleton and Neenah have also canceled school on Friday due to the heat.
