Are cows your favorite? Then you've come the right place because, same! We've seen the normal cow facts before about how much they produce in a day and that they have four “stomachs”. (one stomach made up of four compartments)
Here's some of the facts you probably didn't know about the ladies. Now with all of these random facts, you'll be the coolest one in your group! You're welcome.
Alright, let's get started!
- – Cows have no upper front teeth but have 32 teeth all together. So no worries, they won't bite you.
- – A cow on average chews about 40 to 50 times a day.
- -And with that, cows will chew for up to eight hours everyday.
- – Speaking of eating, a full sized cow's stomach can hold up to 50 gallons of food!
- – Cows will take in about 40 pounds of food in a day…it's probably a good thing that we can't do that.
- – One cow can make almost 2,000 quarter pound hamburgers.
- – There's more cows around than you would think. There are over 800 different breeds of cattle in the world.
- – The first cow came to the United States back in 1611.
- – As of January 2019, the total number of cattle in the U.S. (calves included) was at 94.8 million.
- – Cows have great sense of smell. They can smell things that are as far as six miles away!
- – They might be able to smell good, but seeing is a different story. Cows can see basically 360, but can't see really good straight forward. So if you see a cow turn it's head to look at you, that'd be why.
- – Cows can also see colors, they aren't like dogs. However, it's not like they're really attracted to the color red, even though bull fighting makes us think so. The only reason they give their attention to that red sheet is because the fighter waves it. The motion gets their attention, not the color.
LASTLY: THIS ONE IS CRAZY!
- – Good old President George Washington, he owes his smile to cows. Turns out, his dentist made him some dentures with cow, hippopotamus, and walrus teeth!
Look at that, now in case someone asks you about cows today, you'll be ready to fire back with some facts.
Happy Cow Appreciation Day!
