GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Starting today fans will be flocking through the gates to see professional golfers practice ahead of the Thornberry Creek LPGA Classic.
“So, practice rounds all day long. Wednesday is our Pro-Am, and Thursday through Sunday are the tournament rounds,” said Jon-Paul Genet, tournament director.
Genet says even though it’s a holiday week, he still expects a large crowd with plenty of things to do.
“The past two years we’ve had the same dates and we’ve seen over 60,000 for the week come through the gates.”
Genet expects a similar amount of spectators this week.
If you’re looking for a place to park, you’re asked to use Northeast Wisconsin Technical College’s lot. Shuttles will take you to and from the tournament free of charge.
When it comes to what you’ll be asked to leave at home, the list includes 13 bullet points.
Some of those include:
– No bags larger than a small purse
– No low or oversize chairs
– No posters, signs, or banners

Genet tells FOX 11 expect the course to be busy with plenty of chances sunshine and heat.
“There’s a lot of holes out here with a lot of shade. We do have concession stands strategically placed in some high-traffic areas. So, for those that are coming out, we certainly ask that you purchase water while you’re out here, stay hydrated.”
Genet says over the past few years, the tournament has had an impact on the area and also highlights the traditional Oneida culture.
“Not only is it a great economic impact, I think everyone enjoys having this event here,” he said.
This is the final year of the three-year contract signed to keep the tournament at Thornberry Creek.
The tournament director says a decision on whether it’ll return will be made after the event.
