GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – After allegedly setting fires at an east-side home, a Green Bay man is now facing federal arson charges.
According to the indictment, 57-year-old William Julius did “maliciously damage by fire” at a building at 332 S. Madison St. in August of 2017.
Julius pleaded not guilty in court Thursday and his trial is set for August 26.
Julius was charged in state court with two counts of arson but those charges were dismissed earlier this year, according to court records.
Julius had been involved in an on-going dispute with an ex-girlfriend when he allegedly set fires on the porch and entrance door, according to the criminal complaint.
All of the tenants were able to escape and the damage was estimated at more than $40,000.
Julius faces a mandatory 5-year prison sentence with a maximum of up to 20 years if convicted on federal charges.
