CALUMET COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A portion of Irish Road in the Town of Rantoul was closed after a woman was hit by a man, suspected of Operating While Intoxicated.
The incident occurred in the 5600 block of Irish Road early Monday morning.
Deputies say the 34-year-old woman went outside to investigate noises she heard.
Investigators believe that a man was parked on the road and entered the garage. They say it is believed that he tried to drive away and hit the woman with his vehicle.
The woman was flown to a hospital and is listed in critical condition.
The man was arrested shortly after. Charges of OWI causing injury as well as burglary will be recommended, deputies say.
