GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Green Bay Area Public School District’s Summer Food Program kicked off Wednesday.
It’s the programs twentieth year and organizers say they continue to grow.
Children, ages 18 and younger, are provided with a free, nutritious lunch by the district during the summer months at various local parks.
Those over the age of 18 can purchase a meal for $3.
A full list of locations and times can be found here.
Amanda Frisque Britanyak, Assistant director of the school district’s food service, says this year the program has more park locations.
“During the school year, we offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner to students and during the summer, their hunger doesn’t just magically disappear so we’re happy to provide a nutritious and well-balanced lunch in our parks, Monday through Friday,” she says.
Frisque Britanyak expects about 1,200 children this summer will receive meals each day in area parks.
