GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The summer gas price battle is shifting to a consumer advantage.
Many gallons of gas are burned up by summer travel and this year, Patrick DeHaan of Gasbudy.com says consumers won’t get burned at the pumps to begin summer.
“We will continue to see prices go down and motorists should not be in any rush to fill their tanks as prices will continue to go down probably the next week or so.”
DeHaan says gas prices are often low in the summer months and this year is no exception, but motorist have another advantage on their side this year.
“What is different is the degree of decline that we are likely to see and have already been seeing.”
He says worldwide current events like tariffs on Mexico and a trade war with China are playing a factor in oil prices.
“Because we get outside of that refinery maintenance, the market usually sees a little bit of a downward move as refineries are almost always getting fully online.”
He says some of that concern has driven oil lower.
On Wednesday, prices in Green Bay were as low as $2.57 and were as low as $2.49 in Appleton.
