SUAMICO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The NEW Zoo and Zoological Society has renamed the Cornerstone Animal Hospital to Dr. & Mrs. Wm. David Jones Animal Care and Recovery Center.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Joneses, the animal recovery wing with a quarantine facility was able to be completed.
Thanks to a donation from a zoo visitor, an animal hospital at the NEW Zoo is complete.
Neil Anderson from the NEW Zoo says Dr. Jones wanted to help the animals in some way after a trip to the zoo.
The new 8,000 square-foot animal hospital will help meet the needs for more animals from bears and lions to reptiles and waterfowl.
“It really gives us the ability to provide the level of veterinarian care and the facilities we need for the future,” Anderson said.
A red panda from another zoo is currently in the quarantine area. After its quarantine period, zoo officials will determine whether the animal is ready to be released into the exhibit.
