GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Pedestrian safety may have taken a giant leap in Brown County after day one of Frogger education.
At 10 locations in Brown County, 48 vehicles failed to stop properly for a pedestrian and were pulled over.
Captain Dan Sandberg of the Brown County Sheriffs Office said at one location, the Riverside Drive and Briar Lane intersection in Allouez was reported to be bad in the past, but not during Frogger.
“It was such an obedient location that they moved to a new location because almost all of the cars were stopping there.”
He says in the time spent at the intersection, only one vehicle did not yield properly.
“That is positive that shows an area that we thought we were having an issue, we are not.”
Sandberg said drivers were given the chance to learn the rules and how to properly yield to pedestrians, but it does not stop there.
“Also it helps pedestrians know what rules they have to follow when they cross the road, so it is a two-way street from the educational component.”
In the end, 127 cars stopped for the pedestrian crossing, and of the 48 vehicles that were pulled over, seven were issued citations.
