GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A Green Bay transitional living space for men is growing in size.
Transformation House Inc. has a new home.
The organization is moving into the old Santa Maria’s Nursing home building at 430 S. Clay Street, which increases their space to now fit 46-beds, compared to only 30.
The goal of the organization is to take in troubled men who have fallen on hard times and get them back on their feet.
No matter how long that takes.
“As long as they’re really trying to get their lives together, we don’t put a time limit on it,” explains Pastor Manuelus Reacco.
The only stipulation is that the men need to be actively working towards bettering themselves, which includes staying clear of drugs and alcohol.
“Here we do breathalyze every day and drug testing,” he explains. “They have to be clean.”
Over the years, they’ve helped rehabilitate hundreds of Green Bay area men.
“From January 2012 to last year, we have housed over 680 guys,” says Pastor Reacco.
According to the organization, over 80-percent of the men have graduated to independent living.
Not only will the new, larger space allow Transformation House Inc. to service more men, but it also relieves them from the burden and uncertainty of leasing a facility.
“The main thing is that we own the building,” he explains. “We’re happy here that we have someplace where we can be rooted.”
Pastor Reacco hopes that the new facility will allow them to provide substance abuse counseling, bible studies, job search assistance, and so much more, well into the future.
“I pray that this program is here well after I leave,” he says.
