GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The weekly Wednesday Farmer’s Market on Broadway Street in Downtown Green Bay is looking to provide summer fun all season long.
And for those that have been patiently waiting for the chance to pick up some fresh produce and sample maybe more than a few food trucks, the wait is finally over tomorrow.
Chelsea Cocken, Marketing and Events Manager with On Broadway Inc., says the market will be something to look forward to every week.
“This is an eighteen week season that kicks-off on May 29,” says Cocken. “It runs every Wednesday, thru September 25, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., in the Broadway District.”
For those familiar with the event, it is totally family friendly with plenty to do for kids.
It also has some adult draws too.
“We have a beverage tent that supports the local breweries by having craft beers there every week,” she explains.
But for most people, the focus is on the food.
Fortunately, hungry visitors won’t have to search far in order to find variety.
“We’re bringing in over a hundred-and-fifty vendors each week,” says Cocken. “Everything from your produce and fresh cut flowers and salsas, things that you’d expect at a farmer’s market, but we also have your artists and your handcrafters.”
And don’t let the midweek date fool you, because the streets routinely are packed with people shoulder to shoulder.
“It’s a busy evening, the atmosphere is fantastic,” she says. “There’s something for everyone.”
A yearly reminder from the organization is for visitors to arrive as early as possible and no matter what, expect some traffic.
Parking availability can be scarce in the surrounding area, but not impossible to find if you know where to look.
According to Cocken, a reliable and safe bet would be parking in the Main Street Ramp.
She says it becomes even more attractive if the weather cooperates.
“The bridge is not as long and scary as everyone thinks it is,” she explains. “So, find a spot on the ramp and walk on over.”
Any updates to the weekly market will be posted on their Facebook page.
