GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Presidente Mexican Kitchen has lost its appeal to renew its liquor license.
A city committee unanimously voted to pull the license.
The committee pointed to a number of incidents at the bar which FOX 11 has reported on in the past couple of weeks.
Green Bay police say the issues spanned from fights to underage drinking, to staying open past closing time.
Presidente’s owner, Marco La Porta says low staffing at his Two Rivers location forced him to spend more time there.
La Porta tells FOX 11 the problem lies with the management company he hired for the problems in Green Bay.
“In the restaurant operations, I was in during the week. The problem was at night, at nighttime. At least one of the days I would try to be there, at least one of the two days. They’re the reason why I shut down one of the days because I couldn’t be in both days and night. It was impossible for me. We were working 20 hours a day already, so it’s hard.”
That management company told FOX 11 they never managed Presidente’s business. It claims it only promoted the bar’s nightclub and provided security.
