GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Seven students were recognized during Preble High School’s third annual Service Recognition Day on Wednesday.
The purpose of the event is to honor seniors who chose to enter a branch of service after graduation.
Those students are:
United States Air Force
- Tristan Butzine
- Kaylyn Miller-McDonald
United States Marine Corps
- Nathan Jeanquart
- Riley Sullivan
- Will Oldenburg
- Michael Hablewitz
- Nickolas Roberts
Will Oldenburg says he’s joining the United States Marine Corps because it’s a way to give back.
“I am a really patriotic person. I get emotional when I listen to the national anthem. I love my country and there’s nothing you can do better than to give back and serve,” says Oldenburg.
Kaylyn Miller-McDonald would like to get into security forces or surgical services in the Air Force.
“I want to protect my country and make my family proud,” says Miller-McDonald.
Past graduates who served and died in the Vietnam War were also honored by the school with a plaque dedication ceremony.
The plaque will be permanently displayed in the library media center.
