LA CROSSE, WI (WSAU) — For the second time in less than a year, Kwik Trip stores across the region have pulled vegetable trays from their stores over contamination concerns.
The trays have been linked to potential salmonella bacteria, which can lead to salmonellosis. At least three people in Wisconsin and one person in Minnesota have reported symptoms after consuming products from the trays.
The Del Monte trays included broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and dill dip. A similar product was pulled from stores last June due to concerns about salmonella bacteria as well. Over a dozen people reported illnesses in that case.
Salmonellosis is most commonly associated with flu-like symptoms.
Kwik Trip operates over 600 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa.
The franchise is known as Kwik Star in Iowa to avoid confusion with a similarly-named convenience store chain in that state.
