TOWN OF HOLLAND, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – More than a $60 million manure digester system proposed for a rural Brown County community was voted down 2-1 last night.
The Town of Holland’s board spent 90 minutes discussing the possibility. B.C. Organics proposed a conditional use permit to build a plant. The plant would have handled dairy manure.
B.C. Organic’s Attorney John Thiel calls the process is flawed. Thiel also says the process for the conditional use permit’s application was unconstitutional and illegal.
James Sickel, town attorney presented a document with concerns to the town’s board. Thiel opposed the information Sickel gave to the board because the public hearing was closed last Thursday.
Thiel also believes the Town of Holland’s zoning is defective and doesn’t have a position of zoning administrator.
Several concerns were brought to the state and Brown County by B.C. Organics. The two authorities knew about the potential manure digester plan before the Town of Holland.
Thiel shared several legal concerns during the town board’s meeting.
