APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – More commercial and residential buildings could be coming to the east side of downtown Appleton.
Two development projects were announced on Friday.
A $7 million plan to tear down a vacant commercial building on College Avenue and build a six-story mixed-use business and residential building is the first plan.
Tadych Investment Partners, LLC, has an agreement to buy the property at 320 E. College Ave. from Lawrence University, according to city officials.
Plans call for the building, which would include 28 apartments, 2,600 square feet of commercial/retail space and 30 parking stalls, to be ready by early 2021.
Financial assistance through a city tax incremental financing district, where tax from the increased value of the property goes toward the redevelopment, is being requested by the developer.
While the second plan would build a 36-unit apartment building on three properties just to the northwest.
Fore Development wants to tear down buildings at 309 E. Washington St., and 118, and 122 N. Durkee St, which are currently home to the Appleton Rock School, a residential building, and an office building.
The developer is working with all current tenants to find new locations, according to city officials.
Fore Development is looking for TIF assistance in the $6.2 million project.
Next Wednesday, both proposals are set to go before Appleton’s Community & Economic Development Committee.
The meeting is set for 4:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers.
