GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A company has bought the Shopko optical business, meaning that nearly 80 Shopko Optical locations inside Shopko stores will be made into freestanding locations.
On Thursday, Monarch Alternative Capital announced its acquisition of Shopko Optical and the company says relocation of the eye care offices will occur throughout 2019.
The company expects to open more in 2020 and a list of Shopko Optical locations was not provided.
Shopko is closing all its retail locations and the auction of Shopko’s optical business is part of the retailer’s bankruptcy.
The sale of the optical business will save around 700 jobs, according to an estimation by Shopko leaders.
