WAUSAU, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin Public Service’s (WPS) Weston Power Plant nest box is a little fuller Friday with the hatching of its first eggs of 2019.
Proud parents Sheldon and Rosalee welcomed three new additions to the world late Thursday evening and Friday morning.
14 falcons have now hatched and one egg remains.
By hosting the nest boxes, WPS has helped a species that was once near extinction grow and recover in Wisconsin.
Since 1996, more than 100 peregrine falcons have hatched at WPS facilities.
WPS also includes area students by giving them a chance to name the new falcons.
