HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ) – A 10-year-old Hortonville student was killed in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 15 near Hortonville Friday morning.
“Our hearts go out to the family, this is obviously very difficult.”
Hortonville School District Administrator Todd Timm was one of the first on the scene after learning that a Hortonville School Bus was involved in the crash.
The vehicles included the bus, a pickup truck, and the car the 10-year-old child was riding in.
Timm says once they got the call, they put their planned response into action.
“Trauma teams are meeting to provide support for adults and kids in each of our buildings and they will continue to provide that support in the coming days and possibly weeks ahead.”
Timm says that support is also coming from neighboring school districts and regional partners as needed.
“We have additional counselors and have employee assistance counselors on site for adults and have additional counselors on site from the region that have offered services.”
The school day in the Hortonville School District still went on as scheduled Thursday.
Timm said they reached out to parents through social media, text, and email as soon as they got word of the accident.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is investigating the crash.
