HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ) – A 10-year-old Hortonville elementary school student died in a three-vehicle crash.
The crash happened around 8 a.m. Thursday morning at Broadway Drive near Hortonville.
Officials say a passenger car, a 2016 Dodge Charger was westbound on Hwy 15 and was slowing to a stop as a vehicle in front was attempting to turn left.
Investigators determined that the vehicle was unable to stop fast enough and made a maneuver striking the corner of a 2003 Silverado pickup truck. The Charger then ended up in the eastbound lane and was struck by a Hortonville School bus head-on.
The 10-year-old child was a passenger riding in the backseat of the car and suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the vehicle suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the school bus was transported for non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the pickup truck was not injured.
Hortonville Schools say no children were on the bus at the time of the crash.
