GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A 73-year-old man is in the Brown County Jail on potential charges of first-degree intentional homicide related to the disappearance of his wife in 2013.
James Prokopovitz has also been jailed on potential charges of perjury.
Prokopovitz’s girlfriend, Kathryn Friday of Curtiss, has also been arrested on potential charges of obstruction and perjury, according to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
Victoria Prokopovitz, James’ wife, was last seen around 10 PM on April 25, 2013, at her home on Kunesh Road in Pittsfield.
The 59-year-old woman was reported missing around six hours later. Nothing was missing from her purse that was left behind, including ID, money, and cellphone.
A probable cause affidavit was provided in court on Thursday, while the Defense Attorney asked that it be sealed.
Prokopovitz was the last person to see his wife the day she disappeared and he lied to police about going to look for her after reporting her missing, according to investigators.
They went on to claim that he lied on numerous occasions about Victoria’s disappearance and conspired with his girlfriend Kathy Friday.
A search of Prokopovitz’s home was conducted two years after Victoria was last seen.
Prokopovitz received a $2 million cash bond in court and the DA says they expect to file a criminal complaint on May 21, so formal charges can be filed.
