SEYMOUR, WI (WTAQ) – Two young girls found dead inside a Seymour home last month suffered from stab wounds, according to police records.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice says the two girls died by homicide, while the man died of a self-inflicting wound.
On April 19, 4-year-old Mattelin “Mattie” Annie Samson and her sister, three-month-old Hailey Kaye Poppe were found dead, along with 35-year-old Andrew R. Poppe.
Police were called to the Main St. home on April 18 for a domestic violence incident, according to the search warrant.
Poppe was being abusive and threatening to kill her and her children, according to the victims statement.
Authorities were unsuccessful after trying to make contact with Poppe from outside the home.
Forcible entry was made on the morning of April 19 and SWAT discovered the two children and Poppe dead in an upstairs bedroom, all three having wounds consistent with that of a stabbing.
Authorities have said this was an isolated incident and the public is not in danger, while the search warrant does not indicate who did the stabbing.
The search warrant states that investigators seized a cell phone, two electronic devices, documents, clothing and other bedding items from the home.
Poppe was arrested in June of 2015 for battery/domestic violence in Outagamie County, according to police.
