DE PERE, WI (WTAQ) – It’s been a little over a week since a large fire impacted residents and businesses in downtown De Pere, and the recovery process is still going.
Since the fire, Definitely De Pere has been working with those impacted to get them back on track as soon as possible.
“We have been having meetings and conversations with the individual businesses,” said Tina Quigley, Executive Director. She says support from the community has come in many forms, but fundraising has been a big part.
“The most critical need for both the residents and the businesses is financial.”
Now that money has been raised, this week the organization will meet with the city and Brown County United Way to discuss how to best use the money.
“We will be sitting down to develop the process of the distribution of the De Pere Fire Relief Fund.”
She says they will be discussing distributing and allocating the funds raised and also how to continue raising funds.
She says fundraising efforts are still going on and some businesses are slowly finding ways to do business at alternate locations.
